1.What is water content?
Water content refers to the proportion of water in the lens to the total weight.
Less than 40% is low water content.
40%-60% is medium water content.
More than 60% is high water content.
Normally , High water content is a daily disposable color contact lens.
Low water content is annual disposable color contact lenses.
2.The lens itself does not produce water, but a sponge-like polymer structure in the lens absorbs the water in the eyeball to maintain the original water content.
Myth: Higher water content is better
Higher water content will cause dry eyes more easily!
3.The higher the water content, the softer the lens, but it is also easier to deform and break, and the lens is more likely to lose water;
On the contrary, the lower the water content, the better the formability of the lens, the less deformation, and the less prone to dehydration.
4.Water content and center thickness
The center thickness of the low water content lens is relatively thin.
The center thickness of the high water content lens is relatively thick.
Center thickness <0.04~0.06mm low water content.
Center thickness 0.06~0.10mm medium water content.
Center thickness 0.15~0.20mm high water content.
5.How to choose the water content?
More than 60% water content, suitable for people who do not have dry eyes and do not wear color lenses often.
40% to 60% water content, suitable for people who do not have dry eyes and short wearing time
Low water content below 40%, suitable for people with dry eyes.
